President’s Letter: The Art of Business Growth
Dear EFBC Members,
March brings with it an opportunity for introspection and reflection on our growth strategies and the health of our businesses. Recently, I had the privilege of reading an insightful article in the Harvard Business Review titled “How Fast Should Your Company Really Grow?”. It raised thought-provoking questions about the true measure of a company’s success and the implications of rapid growth on internal components such as company culture, customer relationships, innovation, and capital.
1. Right-Sizing Growth is a Vital Consideration
The article prompted me to ponder: In our pursuit of growth in revenues and profits, are we neglecting the foundational elements that truly make a company successful? Can these internal components scale effectively alongside rapid growth? As business owners and managers, it’s imperative that we consider how to “right size” growth to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of our organizations. This involves striking a delicate balance between expansion and maintaining the integrity of our company culture, talent pool, customer relationships, innovation capacity, and financial stability.
2. Crafting a Great Business Growth Strategy
What does it take to develop a great business growth strategy that aligns with the core values and capabilities of our organization? It’s about more than just chasing numbers; it’s about fostering sustainable growth that enhances the overall health and vitality of our businesses. It requires a strategic approach that takes into account market dynamics, internal resources, and long-term objectives. As we navigate the complexities of growth, let’s remember the importance of thoughtful planning, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of our operations.

Gain a deeper understanding of its significance, costs, potential challenges, and how it can protect your business from unforeseen circumstances.
Thank you for your ongoing dedication and participation in our vibrant EFBC community. Together, we will continue to thrive and evolve in pursuit of our shared goals.

Bidding Farewell to 2023 with EFBC President
Happy New Year! As we bid farewell to 2023 and step into the possibilities of 2024, it’s a time of fresh beginnings, renewed ambition, and the excitement of setting new goals.
Personally, this is my favorite time of the year, as it allows us to reflect on our achievements, dream big, and set our compass for the journey ahead. Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals that will guide you throughout the year.
My favorite December read was “How To Know A Person: The art of seeing others deeply and being deeply seen” by David Brooks. It dives into the essential skill of truly understanding others and fostering meaningful connections, at home, at work, and throughout our lives.
Here’s what’s on the horizon for our EFBC community as we dive headfirst into January & February 2024.
- Flex Forum – January 17th, 2024
- Financial Wrap-Up Seminar Hosted by Private Vista – January 24th, 2024
- Fireside Chat – February 8th, 2024: “NIL Name, Image, Likeness” a topic with profound implications for business and sporting industries. The event will feature EFBC Strategic Partner Eric VanderPloeg from Burke Law and special guests Jahvae “Jay” Giddens from Purdue University and Megan Jerabek from von Briesen
Remember, your journey towards your goals doesn’t have to be a solitary one. EFBC is your community, a network of support, and a source of inspiration.
Wishing you a prosperous and goal-driven January!

Gratitude and Reflection – A Letter From The President
Dear EFBC Members,
As we prepare to bid farewell to another eventful year for the EFBC, December arrives, adorned with the warmth and joy of the holiday season. It’s a time for reflection, gratitude, and showing appreciation for the people who make our business journeys worthwhile.
As business leaders and professionals, it’s essential to remember the significance of showing appreciation for our partners, coworkers, clients, and everyone who has played a role in our successes throughout the year. This holiday season, let’s take a moment to express our gratitude and spread the spirit of appreciation. A simple gesture or a heartfelt message can go a long way in strengthening relationships and building a supportive network.
In celebrating milestones within our community, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to two of our valuable members, Krusinski Construction Company and Brucher Machining, Inc., on their exceptional achievement of marking their 50th Anniversary! It’s an honor to have them as part of our EFBC community!
In the past month, we had the privilege of hearing from one of our own, B.J. Slater, who shared an insightful analogy between business leaders and changes in the aviation industry. The psychology of human factors “Soft Skills” used a flight crew team and business leadership team. Also, the white paper from Strategic Partner Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. regarding year end compliance issues for business is a necessary tool for the leadership toolbox.
As we approach the new year, our planning for 2024 continues. Your input and engagement are crucial as we shape the direction and initiatives of EFBC for the upcoming year. Look out for updates on planning sessions and opportunities to contribute. We have an exciting lineup of events for the upcoming months:
- “Name, Image, Likeness” Fireside Chat featuring Strategic Partner Eric VanderPloeg from Burke Law on February 8th, 2024.
- “Unlocking Potential: The highest form of leadership” event featuring renowned speaker Sam Silverstein on May 16th, 2024.
We encourage you to mark your calendars and make the most of these opportunities to learn from industry leaders and foster meaningful connections within our community.
As we approach the close of 2023, let’s carry the spirit of appreciation and reflection with us. EFBC is not just a business group; it’s a community built on support, collaboration, and shared aspirations. Thank you for being a part of our remarkable EFBC family.
Wishing you all a joyful holiday season!

Thank You, EFBC
This month, EFBC President Andy Sanghani, reflects on his year as president and expresses gratitude towards EFBC as we usher in a new year and look forward to the onboarding of new EFBC president, Dave Horvath!
My year long term as President of EFBC will come to a close in a few days. Like many moments in life, this is bittersweet. This was my first time serving as President of an organization other than Systematics. I’ve learned so much throughout this experience but what is top of mind right now is a feeling of appreciation and admiration for all of those who have served in this position prior to myself. Accepting the opportunity to be in this position is one thing – to make a positive impact is another.
I wanted to say thank you to all who have served along with me. Our board, committees, and strategic partners volunteer their time and energy in an effort to push our organization forward to new heights. Our goal is ultimately to provide our members with as much value as possible from the EFBC.
Also, thank you to Liz, Danielle and Cha Mi for all of the work you do each and every day.
Looking forward to the upcoming new fiscal year, we’ve got the honor of having Dave Horvath and Darrin Shillair as our President and Vice President, respectively. I’m especially excited to have these brilliant minds leading the EFBC. They both bring such diverse perspectives and experiences to the position. Stay tuned as you’ll be hearing more from them very soon.
I look forward to seeing each of you at the Summer Social on August 2nd and many more events to come!
